Since 1979, the Contamines-Montjoie nature reserve stretches over 5500 hectares offering hikers an unspoilt environment. From 1100 metres altitude at the entrance to the village, to 3892 metres on the l’Aiguille nord de Tré la Tête, the reserve has a 2800 metre elevation gain and is also the highest in France. You will find diverse wildlife, from stags to mountain goats. Don’t miss the hike to to the Jovet Lake at 2174 metres over a 14km trail.
